Stowe, Vermont, has been known for decades as "THE SKI CAPITAL OF THE EAST." For the past two decades, Stowe has seen the four-season resort business expand to the point where the local business community sees about 60 percent of its income in the non-winter months. This has occurred because of a huge volunteer effort by many members of the community to bring interesting events to Stowe from May to October. Nearly every weekend sees some type of special event. In addition, an expansion of golfing, mountain biking, tennis, fishing, hiking and horseback opportunities has occurred.
More than a resort destination, Stowe is a community. Stowe has an outstanding local government with all services, including expert town highway maintenance in the winter, police, fire and rescue services as well as one of Vermont’s best Hazardous Terrain rescue teams, a large recreation department providing services to locals and visitors alike with hockey, tennis, athletic fields and the 5-mile Stowe Recreation Path. Stowe also has a fantastic school system with more than 92 percent of all graduates going on to college.
The local extended area also boasts a great hospital with an excellent emergency room and great care for all visitors' needs.
